George Pacey Mayes

George Mayes was born in 1899. In 1911, he was living at Heather Lodge Farm, Harden Moor with his parents, Charles and Charlotte and his five siblings.

In 1917 he joined Royal Berkshire Regiment and later the Royal Warwickshire Regiment giving his occupation as Iron Turner.

He became a Lance Corporal and was demobilised in February 1920.
